Picturing America Collection

The AJHS Library Media Center won a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) to obtain a broad collection of masterpieces of American art. Our collection consists of forty large high-quality poster prints, thickly laminated and ready for display. The carefully curated collection, with artwork from 1100 to today, represents the history of our nation. 

 

The powerful images included in the collection can enrich classroom instruction in all subject areas. Explore our nation's history through art, study the artists and their techniques, compare and contrast the stunning works of art, or argue the inclusion of a piece of art in this valuable collection. The possibilities are endless.

 

Educators can download educational resources for use in the classroom.

 

The collection can be "checked out" of the AJHS LMC and borrowed by individuals by contacting Shannon Griggs.
